Before we get started we wanted to mention that SLEEKFENCE is made from 100% 6063-T6 Aluminum with a heavy-duty powder coating. Aluminum is approximately 30% lighter than steel! Aluminum is also one of the most recycled-and most recyclable-materials available on the market today. Nearly 75% of all aluminum produced in the U.S. is still in use today. Aluminum can also be recycled directly back into itself repeatedly. This is a true closed loop.
How tough is the powder coat finish?
Aluminum does not rust, when you powder coat metal it ends up being much more durable. Powder-coated metal is considered to be “corrosion-proof”. We chose to powder coat our aluminum fence panels, posts, and gates. This creates a tough finish that can handle the elements, kids, and pets.
When powder quoting is applied the drying process creates a unique finish that won’t be found using any other paint product. Powder coating creates a smooth surface without any runs or drips so you don’t have to sand or refinish the surface if any mistakes are made.
Is powder coat finish environmentally friendly?
We wanted to ensure that our aluminum fence product was not coated with any sort of finish that involves the use of volatile organic compounds. VOC’s are not only damaging to the environment, but they are also harmful to human beings.
We wanted to ensure that none of our customers, team members, or any of our SLEEKFENCE certified contractors were working with any sort of material that could make them sick. Powder coating is applied through a pollution-free process.
What else is powder coated?
Powder coating can be found on things like metal furniture, lawnmowers, patio furniture, barbecues, heavy machinery, and military equipment. It performs well when subjected to harsh conditions and can stand up to the elements.
