Cost and maintenance of Concrete Fencing:
There are a few factors that impact the cost of a concrete fence such as the type and quality of concrete used. High-quality concrete mixes with added reinforcements cost more but offer superior strength and longevity. This, paired with the complexity of the fence design, including any decorative elements, textures, and architectural details, will impact the overall cost. Additionally, taller fences require more materials and labor, costing more. We are going to be basing the cost below on 100 ft of precast concrete fence panels, because SLEEKFENCE™ aluminum fence product ships completely preassembled we believe this would be the best comparison. We got these numbers from our leading SLEEKFENCE™ Trained Contractor.
It is also worth noting that concrete fencing requires more maintenance than aluminum fencing; this has an impact on the long-term cost of concrete. Concrete fencing can crack or chip. These issues must be addressed promptly; otherwise, they will worsen over time. Small cracks can be filled with epoxy filler or a concrete patching compound. If you notice significant damage, such as larger cracks or structural damage, you’ll need to consult a professional for repairs. Concrete fencing generally needs to be painted or sealed; the frequency of these coatings is dependent on the climate. This would need to be done to protect your fence from moisture to extend its lifespan. The long-term cost below is based on painting or sealing fence every 3-5 years for 25 years.
Initial Cost without paint: $17,500 – $19,500
Note: It costs about $25 a linear foot to paint the fence.
Initial Cost with Paint: $20,000 – $22,000
Long Term Cost: $12,500 – $20,750
Total Cost: $30,000 – $42,750
Cost and maintenance Aluminum Fencing:
A SLEEKFENCE™ aluminum fence would likely be less expensive both upfront and in the long-term. We consulted with our leading SLEEKFENCE™ Trained Contractor and 100 ft of 6 ft privacy fence would cost $14,000 – $16,000, this is supplied and installed. An aluminum fence requires little to no maintenance; you are only required to clean it at your discretion. We recommend you use car wash soap to clean your SLEEKFENCE™, and that will run you about $50-$100 a year. You’ll most likely only need to clean your SLEEKFENCE™ twice a year. The only other materials you’ll need to clean your SLEEKFENCE™ is a microfiber rag and a hose. We also have a SLEEKFENCE™ cleaning kit available for purchase on our website.
The soap would cost you a maximum of $1250 – $2500 over the course of 25 years. This leaves us with a straightforward breakdown if we are considering both initial and long-term costs.
Initial Cost: $14,000 – $16,000
Long Term Cost: $1250 – $2500
Total Cost: $15,250 – $18,500
We would also like to add that you wouldn’t need to replace your aluminum fence after 25 years. An aluminum fence will last you a lifetime.
Installation requirements for Concrete Fencing:
The installation process of a concrete fence begins with the client’s specifications for color, finish, height, width, shape, strength, and other design elements. Detailed drawings and molds are then created based on the final design. The site preparation involves setting footings through hole drilling and concrete placement to establish a stable foundation. Precast concrete panels are produced offsite and shipped to the project location, eliminating the need for on-site pouring and molds. Fence footings are strategically positioned every along the fence line to support the wall sections. Installing precast concrete panels involves placing them over the supports, ensuring alignment and structural integrity. For taller walls exceeding 8 feet, a crane may be necessary to lift and secure the concrete panels into place. This is usually a very involved and labor-intensive process.
Installation requirements for Aluminum Fencing:
SLEEKFENCE™ aluminum fence panels come preassembled; this will make installation much faster on average. Yes, there are still cases where boards need to be manipulated and/or resized to meet the requirements of a project, but most of the time, the process is seamless. Each piece is designed to work as part of the whole system. This makes an installer’s job much easier and faster. The tools for aluminum fence installation are standard hand and power tools every tradesperson carries. Consider a modular fence design like LEGO.
