Care & Maintenance
Routine care helps preserve the appearance of powder-coated finishes, supports long-term durability, and maintains the clean lines and consistency of each installation.
SLEEKFENCE systems are designed for long-term outdoor performance, but like any coated architectural product, they benefit from regular care. Routine cleaning helps preserve the appearance of the powder-coated finish, supports long-term durability, and is especially important in coastal, polluted, or otherwise aggressive environments. Documented cleaning is required at 6-month intervals, with more frequent maintenance recommended where conditions are more demanding.

Cleaning Instructions
Regular cleaning helps remove dirt and staining that can affect the appearance of the finish over time. In harsher environments, buildup can accelerate surface deterioration and reduce service life, which is why a consistent maintenance routine matters. Cleaning should be carried out away of direct sunlight, and surface temperatures should not exceed 86°F / 30°C during cleaning. For warranty coverage to apply, regular maintenance should be performed and documented in accordance with the cleaning instructions.
Recommended cleaning approach
Use only a mild, non-abrasive, neutral detergent diluted with water, within a pH range of 5 to 8. The document specifically says not to use dish soap, and to avoid cleaners containing abrasive materials or solvents. Soap formulated for automotive paint is recommended.
Wash using a soft car-wash brush or comparable gentle tool. Avoid power washing, as it may damage the fence finish.
Best practices
To help protect the powder-coated finish during cleaning:
• Do not wash in direct sunlight.
• Keep the surface wet until it can be properly dried.
• Use an indirect spray rather than a jet blast of water.
• Dry with a microfiber towel, not standard household towels, which may be too abrasive.
• Use a clean wash mitt and rinse carefully between passes.
• Ideally, use two buckets: one for rinsing and one for clean soapy water.
• Do not reuse cloths or mitts that have touched the ground until they have been thoroughly cleaned.
Cleaning summary

Do not
• Wash in direct sunlight.
• Use dish soap.
• Use abrasive or solvent-based products.
• Use a power washer.
Graffiti Removal
Graffiti can be removed from a SLEEKFENCE finish without damaging the coating when the correct product and method are used. The guide notes that many graffiti removers are too harsh for powder-coated finishes and recommends using Sensitive Surface Graffiti Remover, which has a pH level of 7.8 and falls within the approved cleaning range referenced in the cleaning instructions.
Recommended method
1. Pour a small quantity of remover into a small plastic bucket.
2. Apply the remover to a small area of graffiti using a nylon brush.
3. Agitate the area gently with the brush. A white soft scourer may be used where suitable and where there is no risk of abrasion.
4. Wipe away the dissolved graffiti with a damp toweling cloth.
Important note
Always use products intended for sensitive surfaces and avoid harsh removers that could damage the powder-coated finish. The approved remover referenced in the guide aligns with the cleaner pH criteria in the general cleaning instructions.
